
Winnie Ogutu
Winnie holds a postgraduate diploma in health research methods from Pwani University and a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology (University of Eldoret). She has previously conducted malaria-based research using stable transfection with HEK cells to generate recombinant Plasmodium falciparum merozoite antigens as potential malaria vaccine agents.
She is currently a graduate fellow in the animal and human health unit. Her work "Factors contributing to meat contamination among butcher shop attendants in selected peri-urban areas in Nairobi focuses on improving meat safety in informal markets in peri-urban areas of Nairobi. This work serves as a baseline survey that will be used to implement a context-based intervention to improve meat safety for consumers. She has gained valuable skills in conducting interviews, bacterial cultures, AMR and AST, quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
